![]() ![]() At the time of its release, Rambo III was the most expensive film ever made with a production budget between $58 and $63 million. Rambo III was released worldwide on May 25, 1988. Sam Trautman, from the hands of an extremely powerful and ruthless Soviet Army colonel who is bent on killing both Trautman and Rambo, while helping a local band of Afghan rebels fight against Soviet forces threatening to destroy their village. In the film, Rambo sets out on a dangerous journey to Afghanistan in order to rescue his former commander and his longtime best friend, Col. The film depicts fictional events during the Soviet–Afghan War. A sequel to Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), it is the third installment in the Rambo franchise. Rambo's gun can jam, which adds to the challenge of finally getting out alive.Rambo III is a 1988 American action film directed by Peter MacDonald and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, who also reprises his role as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. The final section changes to an Operation Wolf-style shoot 'em up, with a horde of tanks, foot soldiers and helicopters to face. Section two is identical to the first, except that it is located outside, the enemies are onto Rambo from the start, and there are no traps. Other hazards include mines, trapdoors and booby-trapped doors, but there are enhanced weapons to collect. The locations of the beams are only apparent by collecting special goggles. It is heavily protected by infrared security beams, which when activated unleash the enemies. In the first part, Rambo will explore the building Trautman could be in, through a top-down view. Doing so is a three-part operation approximately following the plot of the film. Colonel Trautman has been kidnapped by the Soviets, and Rambo is going in to rescue him. Rambo's mission is set deep in Afghanistan, in the days when the Soviets occupied it, and America was putting this right (we won't mention who they enlisted to do so).
